After breakfast, we walked up to the farm and got a tour of its cheese-making facilities. Check out David's post on our visit.
Our hike today was on a dirt road that wound its way up to a pass. And the way was all uphill; we climbed about 500 feet.
We passed chalets and farms, many of which seemed to be used in the summer - getting up there in the winter would be a bit tough.
Which brings me to the cows. They would look at us as we walked up the road and continue eating what looked to be exceptionally good grass.
As we neared the pass, the road became even more steep. Here's a view of our goal.
And when we got to the pass, this is what we saw.
And this.
On the way down, more cows.
When we returned to the gite, we walked up to the farm again, this time to watch the cows come in for their milking.
And here is David with M. Henri Clavel, the farmer.
